GUWAHATI/JORHAT: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Utpal Bora has won from the Gohpur constituency defeating his nearest rival Ripun Bora by a margin of 14,118 votes.

On the other hand, BJP candidate Krishna Kamal Tanti won from the Rangapara constituency while BJP’s Ashok Singhal has retained the Dhekiajuli seat.

While Asom Gana Parishad’s Prithiraj Rabha has won from the Tezpur constituency, Aminul Islam of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has won from the Mankachar constituency.

State minister and BJP leader Sanjay Kishan has won from Tinsukia constituency while Ganesh Kumar Limbu, also from BJP, won from the Borchalla constituency.

Elsewhere in Mariani, three-time Congress MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi retained the seat defeating Ramani Tanti of BJP by a narrow margin of 570 votes.

While Kurmi polled 41,141 votes, Tanti polled 40,571 in his favour. Independent Gopal Chandra Ghatuwar finished a distant third with only 1371 votes.
