GUWAHATI: Expressing displeasure over being denied a ticket for Assam assembly elections, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) organisational general secretary Ranjan Borah today resigned from the party.

Addressing a press conference at his residence here, the senior Congressman lamented that he was always denied a party ticket to contest elections even after assurances from the party leadership.

Borah accused the Congress of awarding tickets to candidates in exchange of money. He lamented that he was denied a ticket for as many as five times even after serving the party for several decades.

Borah also alleged that the candidature for the prestigious Guwahati East constituency was given in lieu of money.
