Corona Lockdown: Hailakandi Administration Stocks 2 Months' of Essentials

Hailakandi, March 25, 2020:

In the middle of the worst health crisis in recent memory, Keerthi Jalli, the DC of the Assam district of Hailakandi has stated that the district officials have stocked all the essential goods to deal with the emergency-like situation. She has further appealed the people to stay indoors and refrain from going outdoors amid the 21-day lockdown imposed by the Indian Government to mitigate the threat posed by the coronavirus or COVID-19.

Jalli, addressing the masses, said, "Lockdown is there, but there is no need to panic. You will find all the essential goods on a regular basis, and in the district, we have kept stock of goods for at least 2 months. No problem will be there, if there is a problem is there, we will be there. No need to panic."

Jalli has also requested the senior citizens and daily wage workers to abide by the law, and assured then that "alternative measures" are being planned for them.

The Hailakandi DC also urged people to go to grocery stores on foot and not to go to places of religious worship such as mosques and temples.

Assam, meanwhile, along with the rest of India, has gone into complete lockdown in the wake of the virus' outbreak across the world.

India, meanwhile, has entered a 21 day "complete lockdown" till March 14. The Government, on the other hand, has called upon the States and Union Territories to dispel rumours of there being a shortage of supplies and goods through "publicity".

Modi, in his address, said that if we do not maintain social distancing for 21 days, the entire nation will be pushed back 21 years due to a rampant spread of the corona.

Modi further added that as per the conclusions drawn from the two-month study of all the affected countries that the only option for effective combat against Corona is – Social Distancing, which is said is for every member of the family.

“First it (corona) took 67 days to get one lakh people infected and then it reaching 2 lakh people only took 11 days. It’s even more frightening that from two lakh infected people to three lakh people, this disease took just four days to reach”,Modi said.

At the same time, Modi urged the people to think about the servicemen and wonen who are involved in “essential” services. “I request you with folded hands to think and pray about those who are providing services while putting their lives on the line”, he said.
