Following the sudden rise of Covid19 positive cases, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the media to take stock of the situation. It has been revealed that the PG student, Dr. Likhitesh from Guwahati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) who was found positive was in charge of Corona screening. As such, no new patient will be admitted to GMCH for the next three days. Following which, the hostel one and five associated with the medical college has been put under the containment zone.
The Health Minister discussed the other cases that were found positive. Barada Das who was declared positive was a resident of Kharguli near the GMDA water tank had suffered diarrhea and cough when she got herself admitted. She had no travel history.
The third case was of Debraj Acharjee, who worked in Siliguri Medinipur in Tata Warehouse. He was already in Sarusajai quarantined zone after he came back to Assam.
It was announced that B Barooah Cancer Institute has been kept under containment zone after Deepika Nath, a 16-year-old girl has reportedly succumbed to death on the hospital's colony.

Sarma appealed to Assamese people outside the state to avoid coming back unless necessary. He further stated the people who will come back will have to follow the protocols of the lockdown.
