Coronavirus in Assam: 1 More Positive Case in Golaghat, Total Rises to 24

Golaghat, April 4, 2020:

Dropping yet another bombshell post-midnight, Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has confirmed that one more positive case has been reported from Golaghat district of Assam. With this revelation, the total number of cases in the district has risen to 9; the most in any Assam district.

"Alert ~ One more #Covid_19 positive case from Golaghat has been confirmed, taking the total number in Assam to 24, This case is related to #NizamuddinMarkaz event in Delhi", read Sarma's tweet, sent out at 12:19 am.

According to the Health Minister, the latest case too is related to the Nizamuddin Markaz congregation in New Delhi.

Moments earlier, he had announced 3 more cases -- 1 each in Kamrup (M), Kamrup (R) and Marigaon.

According to reports, one of them is a resident of Spanish Garden in Zoo Road locality.

It may be mentioned here that earlier in the day Biswa Sarma, via Twitter, had announced 4 more positive cases of the virus. Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that four more patients have tested positive for the coronavirus: 3 are from Nalbari and 1 of the patients is from South Salmari district.

The Assam Minister has said that all 4 cases are associated with the Nizamuddin Markaz incident.
