GUWAHATI: Assam today recorded 2,236 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 14 more casualties due to the infection.
With the fresh cases recorded over the past 24 hours, the COVID-19 tally in the state has mounted to 2,35,689.
Kamrup (M) recorded three deaths, while Dibrugarh, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup districts reported two death each. Barpeta, Sonitpur and Tinsukia districts reported one deaths each.
The dead include a teacher of South Point School in the city. The deceased Bishwajit Das, succumbed to the disease at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital here today.
Das was admitted to the hospital yesterday with breathing problems. He was however tested COVID-19 positive later.
The new cases have been detected out of 69,094 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
The state has so far tested a total of 82,40,455 samples for COVID-19.
Kamrup (M) continued to remain on the top with 815 cases followed by Kamrup 196, Nagaon 123 and Dibrugarh 115 cases.
Meanwhile, 619 patients were discharged from various hospitals during the day, taking the count of recoveries in the state to 2,18,958. The recovery rate in the state now is 92.90 per cent.

This leaves the state with 14,198 active cases. The death rate stood at 0.50 per cent with 1,186 deaths.
A total of 20,03,181 people, including 5,21,504 frontline workers, 3,15,356 healthcare workers and 11,66,321 people above 45 years have been administered the COVID-19 vaccine in the state so far.
