GUWAHATI: COVID-19 has claimed yet another life in Assam taking the death toll to four in the last 24 hours.
A teacher of Gopal Boro Higher Secondary school, Sima Hazari, died at the Health City hospital in the wee hours today.
Hazari was admitted to the hospital with hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes complications on April 3. She was however tested COVID-19 positive later.
The hospital authorities have confirmed that she has died of COVID-19. Her body has been handed over to government authorities due to COVID protocol.
It needs mention here that the active cases of COVID-19 in the state post the recently concluded assembly elections have witnessed a massive surge since April 7.
Assam reported 281 positive fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday.
There are 153 positive cases in Guwahati, 12 in Nagaon, 11 in Jorhat, and 10 in Sonitpur.

Three deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.
On other hand, the cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in India crossed 9.43 crore on Friday.
