COVID testing to be re-introduced in Kokrajhar railway stations, Bengal border

KOKRAJHAR: Kokrajhar deputy commissioner Bhaskar Phukan today mooted re-introduction of COVID testing centres at the railway stations of the district and at border with West Bengal in view of the surge in COVID cases across the country.

He suggested the measures during a review meeting on the pandemic situation, chaired by Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Pramod Boro at the BTC Secretariat conference room here today.

Boro took stock of the availability of medicines, ICU beds, PPE kits, treatment centres in all the four districts of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) during the review meeting with the director and joint director of health services of Kokrajhar and district administration.

Phukan also suggested that the COVID care centres set up last year could also be reopened as COVID treatment hospitals etc.

The meeting was also attended by BTC executive member of health services Arup Kr Dey, EM Reo Reoa Narzihary, MCLA Wilson Hasda, principal secretary BTAD Anand Lal Gyani, secretaries of BTC, doctors, DPM Kokrajhar, director of education, director of food and civil supplies and other officials of BTC Secretariat.
