CRPF Jawans Rescue Over 400 Villagers Stranded due to Floods in Kokrajharvillagers

Kokrajhar, July 24, 2019:

The flood situation in Kokrajhar district turned grim on Tuesday due to a renewed spell of incessant rains. This second wave inundated the entire Kokrajhar district as well as many other areas of Lower Assam, causing great distress to villagers residing in these flood-hit areas.

Among the worst-affected were Ajmal modern village, Badi & Chhoti Bhadiyaguri & Kashipara Villages area and many villagers staying in areas adjoining the Gaurang River were stranded due to floods and needed immediate evacuation.

On Tuesday, at around noon, 129 Bn CRPF expert swimmers along with rescue equipments reached the area. Seeing the plight of the stranded villagers, the CRPF jawans immediately sprung into action.

Throughout the day, more than 400 men, women, and children from the villages were evacuated to safer places. The rescue work was carried out continuously till evening time.

It may be mentioned here that SDRF team personnel along with rescue boats were also on the site with the 129 Bn CRPF personnel.

The quick action and services of the troopers was appreciated by the thankful villagers.
