The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that the severe Cyclonic Storm ‘TITLI’ will hit Assam in between October 12 and October 15.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, the cyclone left the coast of West Bengal which will intensify in the next 12 hrs and is likely to move northwest wards, thereafter it will re-curve to northeast wards and later to move towards Odisha.
Speaking to InsideNe, Atul Kumar Singh, working scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre, said, “As per the forecast, Assam and Meghalaya, for first three days, i.e 11th, 12th and 13th of October, will witness heavy rainfall, i.e more than 75 per cent stations is likely receive heavy rainfall. For the fourth day, i.e on 14th October, there will be slight reduction to 50 per cent to 75 per cent in the rainfall and on 5th day, i.e 15th October there will be drastic reduction and it will become isolated.”
“As for the warning is concerned, on the first day, there heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places of Assam and Meghalaya, on second and third day, heavy to very heavy at isolated places with extremely heavy rainfall, on fourth day there will be reduction from isolated and on the fifth day, no warning is issued so far and accordingly the district- wise warning will be sent out in respective stations,” he added.
