The Assam government will take a decision on reopening of schools and other institutions on August 25-26. This was announced by state Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. According to Sarma, the state government is waiting for the central government to get the nod on reopening of schools on September 1.
The Education minister said that preparations are in full swing in getting the COVID-19 tests done of people those associated with the education sector. The state government has already announced that all teachers, professor, and all other employees of schools and colleges needs to go through a COVID-19 tested before the reopening of the institutions. The COVID-19 tests have started from August 21 and will go on till August 30 and it is mandatory for all employees related to the education sector to undergo the test.
A task force will however discuss and deliberate on the reopening of schools and other institutions on August 25-16.
Meanwhile, the Assam government has already asked the teachers to return to the places of employment so that they could get ready if schools reopen on September 1. Assam is trying to reopen the schools on September 1 but a final call will be taken by the central government.
