Rather, they have asked for his body to be sent to Bangladesh.

65-year-old Dulal Pal, a resident of Alisinga in Assam’s Dhekiajuli was declared as a ‘Bangladeshi national’ in 2017 after his land documents from 1965 were not accepted.
He was suffering from multiple ailments and was admitted to the hospital on September 28. Paul died in the detention camp in Sonitpur on October 13.
Following this, Bengali Yuba Chatra Federation, the Dhekiajuli unit, along with Bajrang Dal and Hindu Yuva Parishad, staged massive protests and blocked roads over Dulal Paul’s death.
Meanwhile, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora, along with MLA Ganesh Limbu, visited the family and questioned why he was declared as a foreigner despite having all the necessary documents.

The Congress leader also assured to provide all possible support for legal procedures.
Bora also demanded a high-level investigation to probe the matter and blamed Sarbananda Sonowal’s government for Dulal Paul’s death.
It may be mentioned here that five members of the deceased’s family also did not find their names in the National Register of Citizens (NRC), which was published on August 31.
