Following the death of the two persons in a blast triggered by suspected United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) in Demow, the Government of Assam has announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia to the families of the deceased.
Topon Kumar Gogoi, Minister of State for Power met the families of the = deceased and announced the ex-gratia.
It may be mentioned that on Thursday, two persons namely Kamal Agarwala and Anup Gupta were killed in a powerful grenade explosion triggered by suspected ULFA-I militants.
Although the militant outfit has not yet claimed the responsibility for the deaths but the police suspecting their involvement have initiated an investigation on the whole issue.
Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma speaking on the issue said, "I highly condemn the reprehensible act of a grenade attack on a shop at Demow in Upper Assam’s Sivasagar district, claiming 2 lives."
He added, "The perpetrators shall not be spared. I express my profound grief and join the family in their prayers."
