Guwahati: Prominent actress Zerifa Wahid on Monday evening joined the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) in the presence of party president Lurinjyoti Gogoi in Guwahati, Assam.
Wahid, who was one of the most prominent faces of the anti-CAA protests had joined Raijor Dal floated by Akhil Gogoi-led peasants’ organization Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS).
She resigned from Raijor Dal on Monday after being denied a ticket for the forthcoming Assembly elections.

The actress, who had sought to contest from Bhabanipur, was snubbed in favor of Kamal Kumar Medhi -- a close aide of party leader Akhil Gogoi.
Although the AJP had forged an alliance with the Raijor Dal for the assembly elections, their alliance has been marked by in-fighting over 'seat sharing.'
The AJP, backed by AASU and the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) following the anti-CAA protests, will contest in 68 Assembly seats.
