The United Front of Former ULFA (UFFU), Barak Valley Zonal Committee on Monday lodged an FIR against many public representatives including BJP MLA from Hojai Shiladitya Dev and Union Minister Rajen Gohain alleging them of making provocative and instigating statements which has led to the Dhola killings.
The FIR was lodged by the general secretary of UFFU, Anamul Haque Laskar against Pradip Dutta Roy, founder president of ACKHSA, Hojai MLA Shiladitya Deb, Union Minister Rajen Gohain, Congress MP Susmita Deb, Congress MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayasthya, Congress leaders Siddique Ahmed and Chandan Sarkar.
It is to be mentioned that in the past week many of MLAs and former ULFA workers were seen making provocative remarks on two particular communities in context to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 that allegedly led to the Dhola killing of five people on November 1.
The accused has been charged of conducting criminal conspiracy and causing disharmony by hate speech under section 120 (b) and 153 of Indian Panel Code.
It may be mentioned that on November 1, five persons belonging to a particular community were shot dead by unidentified gunmen. The gunmen were suspected to be cadres of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) but later on the ULFA-I told the media that they had no links with the killings.
However, the police have claimed that the prime suspect behind the killings is the ULFA-I.
On the other side, organisations like KMSS have alleged the government agencies of being involved in the killings. KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi has even claimed that the murderers might be officials of the Home Department.
So far the police have arrested four persons in connection with the case. Out the arrested, two are pro talk ULFA leaders, Jiten Dutta and Mrinal Hazarika. These two were arrested for their alleged provocative statements while another youth from Sadiya was arrested for his alleged links with the ULFA-I. The youth identified as Diklai Gogoi has been accused of being a linkman of the ULFA-I. He used to shelter the militants as well as show them routes. Currently the police are interrogating him but leads have been found so far.
Another person arrested for making provocative comments is Bengali youth leader Sujit Sarkar. He was arrested based on an FIR filed by ULFA-PT member Prabal Neog. Sujit has also been accused of making communal and provocative remarks.
Currently, the whole matter is under investigation.
