It was on November 1 evening that Dhananjay had just returned home when unidentified gunmen barged into his house and took him to a nearby wooden bridge.
Along with five others, Dhananjay was made to kneel down and then shot at by the masked men.
On hearing gunshots, Dhanjay’s brother Subal along with other villagers rushed to the spot.
What Subal saw would haunt him for the rest of his life. Dhananjay was lying in a pool of blood but his heart was still beating.
“Brother please take me to the hospital,” were the last words of Dhananjay.
A helpless Subal not being able to manage a car carried his brother on a hand-cart. By the time they could reach hospital, Dhananjay succumbed to his injuries.
The Assam government was quick enough to announce an compensation of Rs 5 lakh and a job to the next of the kin of victim.
But that won’t bring the mother her son back. Dhananjay’s mother Prabashi Namasudra wants the culprits to be punished.
Subal has demanded a CBI enquiry into the whole incident.
The perpetrators are still at large even after five days of the incident.
Will Dhananjay and his family get justice, time will say.
