The Dibrugarh Municipal Board imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on four private nursing homes in Dibrugarh town for violating the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules.
The action was initiated after it came to the notice of the DMB and District administration that Bio-Medical Waste from these nursing homes was being discarded directly into the municipal dustbins located near the Dibrugarh Circuit House by these institutions.

They were caught red-handed along with the tricycle cart carrying the biomedical waste, which is against the rules of the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules 2016.
The Deputy Commissioner has directed the DMB authorities to ensure strict compliance of the Rules and initiate action any person or institution found violating the provisions in the future.
A letter imposing the fine of Rs 50,000 has been issued by DMB to each of the following nursing homes - Damami's Nursing Home, Sanjivani Hospital, HM Hospital, and MGM hospital.

Authorities of all the nursing homes have been asked to deposit the amount in the office of the Dibrugarh Municipal Board within seven days from the date of receipt of the letter.
