There's difference between being in Assembly and Organisations: Speaker to Akhil GogoiAkhil Gogoi

GUWAHATI: The first Budget Session of the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly has started from today onwards with Question Hours, and peasant leader cum newly elected Sibsagar legislator Akhil Gogoi does not seem to play it quiet, especially after being away from the public eyes for almost 18 months in prison he is to make his presence firm and visible again.

Akhil Gogoi came back with his agitating spirit even on the Assembly floor and it did not go well down with the Assam Legislative Assembly speaker Biswajit Daimary and hence Daimary has slammed Gogoi for raising his voice and questioning the speaker.

"There is a difference between being in the Assembly and being in an Organisation," said speaker Daimary taking a jibe at the former Krishamk Mukti Sangram Samiti former leader, who was in jail, for his alleged role in violent anti-CAA protest and nexus with Maoist elements.

The opposition wanted to discuss on petrol-diesel-essential commodities price hike issue in the house canceling all other schedules for the day.

Speaker Biswajit Daimary has denied a discussion citing that the issue is not under the sole control of the state government.

Speaker's verdict has sparked a debate between the government and opposition as a part of which Akhil Gogoi stood up and could be heard saying a in loud voice, "What is wrong in discussing price hike? What else could be an urgent matter in the public interest at this moment?"

As per rules, when the speaker is standing, everyone else in the house should be seated and also his decisions cannot be challenged.

The ruling parties' members have slammed Gogoi and other opposition leaders for not following the 'rules' and so did the speaker who took a potshot at Gogoi as well.

From the very beginning of the Question Hours, the heated debates between Gogoi and speaker Daimary have been observed by the house where Daimary would ask Gogoi to come to the point and Gogoi would accuse him of interrupting him from speaking.

Their arguments left the house giggling at some points including the Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma which has become an internet sensation now.
