Dima HasaoDima Hasao, April 18, 2019:
The Dima Hasao administration has quashed reports of a 'bandh' on election day. This was confirmed in a statement released by the Dima Hasao Directorate of Information and Public Relations on Wednesday on social media platform Facebook.
The statement issued by the DIPR read: "It has come to the notice of District Administration that some rumour is making rounds regarding a bandh call tomorrow by some organization. District Administration and Police Administration of Dima Hasao hereby request everyone not to respond to such rumour and also inform that Market and all other activities will function normally. Assuring security and responsibility the district and police Administration request all to ignore such rumour and exercise their voting rights."
It can be recalled that a new armed militant organization, the Dimasa National Liberation Army, had earlier called a 36-hours bandh in Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong districts starting on 17 April and continuing till election day, i.e. 18 April.
It may be mentioned that the Autonomous Council Lok Sabha Constituency, comprising of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts, is among the five Constituencies of Assam which are casting their votes today.
