DIMA HASAO: The Jatinga Festival of 2021 began in the Jatinga area of Dima Hasao district yesterday with the vision of protecting migrating birds.

The subject of this year's Jatinga Festival is "Conservation and Preservation of Migratory Birds of Jatinga."

Debolal Gorlosa, CEM of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), Smt. Ranu Langthasa, Chairperson of NCHAC,  Paul Boruwa, DC Dima, S. Tumnung, CCF Dima Hasao, and all EMs and MACs of NCHAC were present at today's program.

The programme is started for two days, the programme was started with colorful traditional dances, in the program there were installed all traditional food and dress stalls.

Today there will be a musical night where the artists from Dima Hasao and Diplina Deka and her band from Guwahati will participate in the programme and entertain the people of Dima Hasao.

Debolal Gorlosa appeals to the people of Dima Hasao to protect the migratory birds which come to Jatinga from various countries, he said it's a God gifted thing.

The first Jatinga Festival was started in 2010 and the initiative was taken by Blue Hill society along with the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) authorities, the main motive behind this festival is to protect the migratory birds who come to Jatinga and Borail range from the various countries and also to develop the tourism of the district.
