HAFLONG: North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) member Rahul Naiding who was 'expelled' from the BJP by the district unit of Dima Hasao, has said that party president Ranjeet Dass has urged him to return to his position and continue his duties as earlier.
Addressing the press today, Naiding said that he was initially 'shocked' when he found out that he had been expelled from the saffron party.
"Without giving any show cause how can I be suspended from the party?", Naidung questioned, going on to claim that he was not involved in any 'anti-BJP' activity as alleged by some of his colleagues in the party.
"Therefore, I contacted the BJP state president Ranjeet Das and met him at his constituency. Dass told me that in the BJP's constitution clause 3, article 25 it is clearly mentioned that only the national president or state president has the power to suspend anyone from primary membership."
He added that Ranjit Das instructed him to convey this through media and to do his work "as earlier."
"Before announcing in front of media that I had been fired, Dhonphainon Thaosen should have followed the rules and norms as per the party's Constitution," Naiding added.
"Whatever was said by the district president regarding my so-called anti-party activities is totally false as I have never done anything like that. Some people have been trying to remove me from the BJP for the last 7-8 months. I am a BJP member and will be a BJP member forever," he said.
On March 24 in a press meet Dima Hasao BJP district president Donpainon Thaosen said that Naiding MAC of NCHAC was guilty of indulging in anti-party activities where he appealed to people to vote against the BJP candidate Nandita Garlosa.
