Diphu youth shot dead in broad daylight, no arrests so far

DIPHU: A youth was shot dead in broad daylight by some miscreant in Diphu today.

The incident took place at Haticamp, Dhansiri road.

The youth named Debojit Sinha hailed from Sitalabari area of Diphu.

Debojit was on his way toward Dhansiri from Diphu in a bike with a female mate, when a miscreant stopped their vehicle in the middle and shot Debojit, explained Debojit's female mate.

"We were supposed to go to Dhansiri. But we were getting late and since the lockdown was about to get imposed we decided to come back to Diphu," said Debojit's friend.

She further added, "But a man started following us on our way back and made us stop. He said we came here with bad intentions and people like us ruining the country then fired at him (Debojit)."

The bullet hit at the head of the victim.

"A total of 3 bullets were fired at the victim. Why the incident took place it's hard to mention now as investigation is still underway," a police official informed.
