The Kamrup (Metro) District Administration, Commissioner of Police and Guwahati Municipal Corporation held a meeting with the Durja Puja Committees of Guwahati on Monday regarding maintenance of puja pandals.
The administration along with the municipality has ordered the puja committees to print all the banners, hoarding and the flexes in ssamese, to make the pandals plastic free and tobacco free, to equip all the pandals with CCTV, to keep constant contact with the police
and put in display all the emergency numbers inside the pandals. The administration has also ordered the puja committees not to use loudspeakers and not to demand donation in the name of puja.
Further the administration added that the ‘Visarjan’ will be on October 19 and only three routes will be allotted to carry the idols to the ‘ghats’. Three ghats will be opened at Kasomari ghat, Pandu ghat and Sunsali ghat for Visarjan.
The Guwahati Municipal Corporation has ordered the puja committees to keep an adequate number of dustbins for wet and dry garbages.
While addressing the media, Commissioner of Police, Pradip Chandra Saloi said that the meeting was organised among the Puja Pandal Committees and the administration to discuss on the activities to be carried out during the time of puja.
