Tinsukia, November 3, 2018:

Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order), Assam, Mukesh Agrawal on Saturday said that they are still investigating the involvement of the anti-talks faction of United Liberation Front of Asom, in the Dhola mayhem.

Talking exclusively to InsideNe, Agrawal said “Though the Ulfa (I) has denied its involvement, we are keeping all options open. We don’t close the chapters just because someone has denied.”

Agrawal said “We are on the job and a full fledged investigation is on. As part of our investigation, we have arrested an Ulfa (I) linkman Babanand Gogoi alias Jintu alias Dikla. We have got five days police custody of Gogoi and we are working to find out forward and backward linkage with the incident.”

Agrawal added that they are not forming any conclusive opinion who was directly behind the investigation.

On being asked about the Tinsukia visit of a Trinamool Congress (TMC) delegation, Agrawal said “The delegation led by Member of Parliament Derek O’Brien will be accompanied by three others. Whatever is required to be done as per the standard protocol of security as well as courtesy will be extended to them.”

“We have stationed very strong pickets, there are police presence with Central Reserve Police Force components and it will continue. We have to restore the sense of security back to the people staying there,” Agrawal said on security measures taken in the effected village.
