Guwahati, November 15, 2018:

The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) announced that they will be bound to call for an indefinite Assam Bandh if they are not allowed to hold the protest meeting scheduled on Friday.

KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi speaking on the issue said that police seems to be maintaining double standards as on side they gave us permission for the rally but on the other side, they have imposed section 144 in Guwahati and detained multiple participants of the Sankalp Sikha Yatra.

He added, "None of the participants were involved in any sort of violence but still the police detained them. This seems to be a fulfledged plan. If the government and police does not let us complete our meeting tomorrow then we will be bound to call for another Assam Bandh as well as an intensified agitation.

He added that the complete rally is being blocked under the orders of "Dispur". "This act of the government proves that it is actually trying to divide the masses and we can never let that happen", he added.

Akhil added that the government should immediately take steps to release all the people detained by the police.

"Does the government want to force the people to join militant outfits?", he questioned.

He added, "The government has also warned all the bus owners not to bring anyone to the protest meeting. The government seems to be forcing us to become anti-democratic by doing so."

He further urged all the people "who love Assam" to come and join the protest meeting at the Dispur Press Club at 10 am in the morning.

Akhil also alleged that the BJP and RSS hired goons to attack the protest rally participants.
