Speaking to InsideNE Editor-in-Chief, Samujjal Bhattacharya said, “Today the bandh has been supported by all the seven North-Eastern states wholeheartedly and this bandh is called against the Centre’s propaganda on the North-East. We have called the bandh against the Centre and the State government over its decision to dump illegal Bangladeshi migrants in Assam by amending Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 to strengthen their vote bank which is a clear violation of the Assam Accord.”
He added, “By announcing the Bandh in these seven North-Eastern states we want the rest of India to understand the problems we are facing and we are sending a strong warning to the centre and the state governments along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Sonowal not to play with the future of Assam.”
Speaking on the issue of Assam on national platforms, the AASU advisor said that the central leaders, the political leaders of the country, intellectuals and most of the national media, don’t think there is a part of the country beyond Kolkata; it is our agonian resentment. Everybody should change their mindset and realize that there is a part of the country beyond Kolkata, i.e. Assam and North-East. Today seven states of the country are observing bandh unitedly for a cause so everyone has to understand Assam is not a dumping ground for illegal Bangladeshis. The BJP party and its leaders Narendra Modi and Sarbananda Sonowal are all Bangladeshi supporters and are anti-Nations.”
