We all remember the Assamese blockbuster of yesteryears ‘Dr Bezbaruah’. What if you get to watch its remake in the silver screen. Yes, it is indeed going to come true in the days to come. AM Television Pvt Ltd today announced its sequel ‘Dr Bezbaruah II’ to be produced under its banner , presented by Sanjive Narain and co-produced by Akshata Narain in association with NR Motion Pictures. Dr Bezbaruah will be the first Assamese thriller & successful commercial film to get a sequel after 50 years.

Directed by none other than Nipon Goswami, cast of the film are bigwigs such as Adil Hussain, Zubeen Garg, Sidharth Goswami, Kingkini Goswami and Nipon Goswami himself. With music by Zubeen Garg, the film’s story & screenplay has been written by Rajdweep. Hriday Gogoi is the Director of Photography of the movie.

It may be mentioned that a cinematic journey was undertaken 50 years ago, a journey that took Assamese filmdom to a new direction. De Bezbaruah, released on November 7, 1969 was not only the first thriller and the first visibly successful commercial movie in Assam, it also marked the 10th time an Assamese movie was honoured with the National Film Award. Produced under the banner of Rang Ghar Cine Production, it was directed by Brajen Barua.

It was a cinematic experience that evoke memories of a time when Brajen Barua’s lyrics stunned, Dwipen Barua’s voice delighted, Ramen Barua’s composition inspired and Nipon Goswami’s acting transported us to a different world. They, along with the other greats of the Assamese cinema of yore, gave us a gem that we will celebrate forever.   

With bigwigs such as Nipon Goswami, Adil Hussain and Zubeen Garg part of the ambitious project, the movie is certain to win hearts of the people once again after almost five decades.
