Guwahati: Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, a two-time chief minister of Assam, on Thursday has reportedly been admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi following deterioration of his health, reports said.
According to reports, the ailing Mahanta was airlifted to AIIMS for 'advanced treatment.'
"Mahanta, who has been unwell for some time, has been shifted to the AIIMS, for better treatment. He is now doing fine," a source in the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) told InsideNE.
The 67-year-old Mahanta, who first became chief minister of Assam in 1985, has been sick for some time now and is said to be suffering from multiple ailments.
On January 16, Mahanta was rushed to a private hospital in Guwahati following a complaint of 'chest pain'. His condition became stable after he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.
