Guwahati, December 24, 2018:
In a candid conversation with InsideNe yesterday, Sir Vivian Richards had to answer a volley of questions from InsideNe such as why he always chewed gum while playing the great game, how he has maintained fitness, etc.
“When I used to play cricket, I would always chew gum as it made me look cool. As regards fitness, it is in my gene. My father was an athlete and I was inspired by his fitness,” the legend said. He reckons “Little Master” Sunil Gavaskar was the best batsman of his time and Dennis Lillee the best bowler.
Lavishing the current Indian cricket team, and especially skipper Virat Kohli with high praise, Viv lamented the current state of West Indian cricket but expressed confidence that the team would soon make a comeback. Talking about the hospitality of Indians, the legend said: “Whenever I come to India, and even in Guwahati, there is the feeling I am loved.”
