Cases of Moral Policing is on the rise in Assam. In recent times, the state have witnessed several such cases of moral policing. After reports of moral policing emerging from different parts of the state, this time two such incidents in Jorhat have raised the eyebrows of the people. In two separate incidents, both reported from Nematighat in Jorhat, two couples were subjected to physical torture by a group of local youths. In the first case, a pair of friends were sitting on the banks of river Brahmaputra when all of a sudden a group of youths appeared from nowhere and started abusing the couple. The group also made a video and uploaded it on social media. The pair of friends however managed to escape from the clutches of the group.
In the second incident, another pair of friends went to Nematighat for a photo shoot. As they were about to start, two persons confronted them and asked them to leave the place. The couple repeatedly kept telling that they were there just for a photo shoot but instead the persons made a video of them and uploaded it on social media which went viral. Since then, the victim, a PhD holder has been in a state of distress.
Meanwhile, the Jorhat police have arrested two youths namely Khagen Bora and Appu Bora in connection with both the cases.
