Extortion racket in name of ULFA busted, five held

Tinsukia (Assam), Aug 23, 2018:

Five people were arrested by the Tinsukia police for running an extortion racket in the name of Paresh Baruah faction of banned insurgent group United Liberation Front of Assam (Independent).

The accused were identified as Mintu Saikia, Kolamoni Das, Baleshwar Prasad Rai, Atul Bordoloi and Debokanta Das. The police seized mobile handsets along with two SIM cards and Rs.2 lakh from their possession.

The accused persons were running the extortion racket in various parts of Upper Assam.
