In a major crackdown against the counterfeit currency racket in Assam, fake currency notes of denomination Rs 500 have been seized in Nagaon district of Assam on Sunday.
A team of Nagaon police led by additional superintendent of police, Rosie Kalita, arrested six persons in connection with the fake currency racket.
It is worth mentioning that a fake note printing machine was also recovered from the suspects.
The six accused have been identified as Chirod Borgohain, Mahim Gogoi, Kamal Uddin, Suraj Ali, Rashid Ali, and Billal Hussain. They were allegedly printing the fake notes in a house belonging to a certain Chirod Borgohain.
Speaking to Inside Northeast, the Nagaon local authorities said that the discovery has been made in Samuguri area, and the suspects are being interrogated for more information.
