The Kolkata Police Special Task Force (STF) has arrested fake currency racket kingpin Subhash Biswas and his got transit remand from Dhemaji Court.

Subhash Biswas is one of the accused in the Silapathar Vandalism case.

Earlier, arrest warrants were issued against Subodh Biswas and Subhash Biswas by Shilapathar Police Station.

However, Subodh Biswas is on bail and has also obtained permission from court to visit his home town as a result of which he could not be arrested.

According to the STF, a case was registered in Kolkata against a person involved in a fake currency racket. He was also in possession of illegal arms.

On interrogation of the individual, names of Subodh Biswas and Subhash Biswas came into light.

A Bangladeshi individual was also arrested in connection with the fake currency racket.

It may be mentioned that Subodh Biswas is the main accused in Silapathar vandalism incident.

Subodh Biswas has been charged with abetting riots and fuelling enmity between two communities.

Biswas and his aide were also charged with vandalizing the AASU office in Silapathar on March 6 last year.

He was arrested from the Bajitpur area of North-24 Pargana district of West Bengal on March 22.
