Feel Like a Lion Trapped in a Zoo, says AGP Leader Atul Boralion

Guwahati, December 14, 2019:

Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader Atul Bora, according to various media reports, has finally voiced out against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. According to reports, Bora has stated that he has expressed his dissatisfaction over the Bill in front of Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal.

Atul Bora, speaking to the Press, reportedly said that he has not been able to openly oppose the Bill and he feels like a “lion trapped in a zoo”.

It may be mentioned here that Bora, who took active part in the Assam Agitation (1979-1985), has come under increasing scrutiny for his alleged silence over the issue by his detractors. Bora’s detractors have further condemned the AGP leader, whose party is part of a ruling alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bodoland People's Front (BPF) parties, for being “power drunk.”

The AGP President Bora has been facing the wrath of protesters for staying mum on the issue, especially as Bora's AGP party is believed to have been birthed from the Ashes of the Assam Agitation.

Agitators have staged mock hangings of Bora, burned his effigies, and staged a fake 'suicide' of the Agriculture. An irate mob of protesters also staged a massive protest outside his private residence in Golaghat while he was there on a visit. Now, it remains to be seen whether Bora's "lion" analogy will soften Bora's detractors' stance towards the regional party leader.
