Assam was left heartbroken when a video went viral on social media. What was so heartbreaking about this video, you might ask? Well, the video showed a 68-year-old Muslim man, Shaukat Ali, being force-fed pork due to allegedly storing beef in his restaurant.

An FIR has been registered at Biswanath Chariali Police Station vide Case no. 80/ 2019 u/s 143/ 341/ 325/ 294(a)/ 295-A/ 153- A(b)/ 384 IPC and investigators are on the job to apprehend the culprits.

People across the state of Assam, which is known for its tolerance and acceptance, looked on in amazement as the old man was thrashed by a mob and then forced to eat pork. The incident, which took place four days ago, went viral on Monday and has created a storm of controversy and debate in Assam.

It can be debated that cow vigilantism has been on the rise ever since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took charge five years ago, which numerous incidents being reported intermittently. 122 incidents of cow-related violence have been reported in the country since the BJP-led NDA Government was elected in 2014.
