Five Rhino Poachers Arrested In Assampoachers

Biswanath, July 7, 2019:

At a time when the Government has deployed 82 Special Task Force officials for the protection of the one rhinoceros in Kaziranga National Park, five poachers have been arrested on July 6 night from National Highway 15 near Borgang in Sonitpur district.

The poachers were arrested by a team of the Crime Investigation Range and Gamiri Range of Biswanath Wildlife Division along with the police.

The arrested poachers have been identified as Arfan Ali alias Rehan, Naga shooter- Ramkuiba alias John of Dimapur, Mintu Hazarika, Tunmoni Saikia, and Puniram Das.

The poachers were nabbed while on their way from Biswanath Chariali to Behali, as per reports. The other three were arrested based on the statements of Arfan and John.

Among the apprehendees, Afran has also been arrested twice before in relation to Rhino poaching.
