Kokrajhar, July 24, 2019:

Lower Assam is still feeling the impact of the devastating floods in the State of Assam. The incessant rain has submerged most of the regions of the Kokrajhar district in which even the houses of the politicians have not been spared. After Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daiumary's house was paid a visit by the floods, this time it's Kokrajhar MLA Rabiram Narzary’s house that has been partially submerged underwater.

In a clip that has reached Inside Northeast, the MLA can be seen draining out the water using a bucket. It can be seen that the furniture and other household items have all submerged into the water.

Visuals of the MLA’s flooded house have reached Inside Northeast and in the clip, Narzary is seen moving around finding ways to get rid of the water in the house.

The MLA shows the well that is on the verge of getting submerged and barely half a feet is left. He is also seen taking a bath drawing water from well.

It is to be mentioned that Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary’s Kokrajhar residence was submerged by floodwaters.

Assam has been hit by one of its worst floods in recent times as people in 30 districts have been affected. Moreover, numerous deaths have been reported in many areas. Animals have also been great sufferers in these floods as many endangered animals, such as the one-horned rhinoceros, have drowned in floodwaters.

Although the rest of Assam is starting to see mild improvements, as the water has receded in a few areas, the Boroland Territorial Council (BTC) areas are seeing a renewed spell of rains. The incessant rains in the Kokrajhar town have caused yet another dire situation in the area and the locals of Kokrajhar are facing a lot of difficulties due to water-logging and flash floods.
