Former ADG Pallav Bhattacharjee Appointed as New APSC ChairmanChairman

Guwahati, January 31, 2020:

The Government of Assam has named former Additional Director General of Police Pallav Bhattacharjee as the new Chairman of Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).

Bhattacharjee’s appointment as the new APSC Chairman has been viewed as the government’s effort to curb corruption in the infamous cash- for-job department.

Meanwhile, the government has also appointed vice principal of SB Deorah College, Niranjan Kalita and IAS Sanjib Gohain Baruah as a member of the APSC.

It may be mentioned here that prior to Pallav Bhattacharjee, Rakesh Kumar Paul was the Chairman of the APSC. During his tenure, many corruption cases had come to light, leading to the arrests and suspensions of many APSC officials.
