GUWAHATI: Bhabanipur MLA Phanidhar Talukdar, who resigned from All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) is all set to join BJP today.
Welcoming the new BJP member, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted,
“The faith of leaders across political spectrum in Hon PM Sri @narendramodi continues to grow. Happy to have met Hon MLA of Bhabanipur Sri Phanidhar Talukdar, who resigned from
@AIUDFOfficial & will join @BJP4Assam later today. I welcome him to our Pariwaar.

Talukdar resigned from AIUDF claiming that it was for “the larger interest” of the people of his constituency as well as Assam.
With this, the number of MLAs from the party in the Assam cabinet has come down to 15.
The AIUDF, which was in alliance with Congress in the assembly election in the state this year, managed to win 16 seats, while its ally Congress won 44 seats.
