Addressing the media, Tarun Gogoi said, “The BJP call us the ‘Merchants of Corruption’ but the BJP has taken away the main merchants Himanta Biswa Sarma and Gautam Roy with them. After losing (the election), I’ve become poor, while Sarbananda has become rich.” Terming Himanta Biswa Sarma as a ‘paid singer’, Gogoi said that wherever it is needed, the cassette will be played. “No one can beat Himanta in that, and he is expert in that,” he added.
Hitting out at Himanta Biswa Sarma’s statement on the 500 rupees’ currency note to be old, thr former CM said, “You (Himanta) have established a few news channels on the old currency note, so don’t neglect it.”
Gogoi also took a jibe at Himanta’s statement over the struggle of minority population on yesterday’s election campaign saying, "Himanta Biswa Sarma himself said that the pipeline in Gujarat carries the blood streams of the Muslims. This was said during election campaigns by him, not me. He knows who to praise at what time. Then, he used to praise me, and now, he accuses me.”
