The Gauhati High Court has ordered the Central and state governments to maintain status quo with regard to the “Z plus” security cover of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

It has also asked the state government to submit a report and file an affidavit by February 12, informed Advocate Atul Chandra Buragohain, who appeared for Gogoi in the Court.

It may be mentioned here that the three-time former CM had approached the High Court after his security was downgraded to “Z” with CRPF cover from “Z Plus” recently. Gogoi alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled government had stripped off the security since he is a vocal critic of the government.
