Bollywood siren and former 'Awesome Assam' ambassador Priyanka Chopra will not be present at the upcoming Filmfare Awards ceremony in Guwahati, it has been confirmed.

It may be recalled that not too long ago, Priyanka became the darling of Assam after she was appointed as the brand ambassador of Assam Tourism and a campaign featuring the star named as 'Awesome Assam' was flagged off amid much fanfare.
However, Priyanka opting out of the prestigious award ceremony perhaps points to a growing distance between her and the state that she once promoted in viral ad campaigns that saw the star gallivanting in Assam's saah bagans (tea gardens) to promote Assam's tea. It can also be argued that the star is being kept busy by her assignments in Hollywood, where she was recently seen attending the Grammys along with beau Nick Jonas.
Not too long ago, Priyanka was heckled on social media during the recent flood in Assam after she forgot to speak out on the issue. Netizens further claimed the Chopra, as an ambassador of the state, must donate money for flood victims like fellow Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar.

Later, Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified that Chopra was no longer associated with the project as her contract had expired.
However, it can be argued that as the first A-list Bollywood star to be associated with the State of Assam, Piggy Chops will always be remembered by the people of Assam as the face of its tourism industry.
