Guwahati, December 11, 2018:
Former Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi, inconversation with ‘InsideNE’, expressed enthusiasm regarding the Congressparty’s victories across the nation, declaring it to be a severe dent inNarendra Modi’s morale ahead of the Lok Sabha elections next year.
In light of victories in key states such as MadhyaPradesh, Rajasthan and Chattisgarh, Gogoi did not appear to be fazed by thedefeat of Mizoram CM Lal Thanhawla, stating that “Mizoram’s role is very small as it is a small state”.
Gogoi expressed satisfaction at the leadership abilities
of Rahul Gandhi, who he feels “has fought back in a short time” against the
duopoly of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. Questioning the BJP’s dominance shown
by in recent times in the North-East, Gogoi alleged that they have only been
able to form governments in alliance with local parties in these states.

Gogoi is of the belief that “small states can be
flipped once the govt changes at the centre” and opined that the Congress is
more concerned with national politics at the moment.
