Many Congress workers including Congress leader Netra Ranjan Mahanta and former National Students’ Union India (NSUI) president Bibhuti Bhusan Borthakur have joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday just ahead of the Lok Sabha election.
The joining of the Congress leader took place in presence of Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other leaders of the party.
The former Congress members alleged that the Congress party has moved into a secret alliance with the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) which they have been opposing.
Slamming Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “In fear of losing the elections, Rahul Gandhi has fled to Amethi. In Assam, Congress leaders like Gaurav Gogoi also choose minority-dominated seats as they have a stronghold in those regions.”
