Two-time former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh along with wife Gurcharan Kaur cast his vote at the Dispur Government Higher Secondary School in the Super Market area of Guwahati during the third and final phase of voting in Assam.
Singh was greeted by several Congress leaders including Gauhati candidate Bobbeeta Sharma, APCC President Ripun Bora, and leader of opposition Debabrata Saikia.
The couple had flown in from New Delhi to especially participate in the polling process and is scheduled to return in the evening after a stopover at their rented accommodation in the city, which Dr. Singh lists as his permanent address.
Dr. Singh and his wife are registered voters at the Dispur Assembly Constituency which falls under the Gauhati Lok Sabha Constituency which headed to the polls during the third and final phase of voting.
Singh had cast his vote here in past several elections, including in 2009 and 2014 General Election and 2016 state Assembly election. It may be mentioned that the former PM has represented Assam in the Rajya Sabha since 1991.
