Assam Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced several developmental schemes for the state. Addressing a press conference at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati, Sarma said kidney patients can now avail free dialysis service in 20 new hospitals under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme. He stated that the new hospitals will be ready in the next sixty days.

Sarma also stated that the state government has approved a sum of rupees ten thousand crore for the infrastructural development of the state. He added that this particular investment will be the highest capital investment in the history of Assam.

He said that four new medical colleges at Biswanath Chariali, Charaideo, Goalpara and the second one in Guwahati will start coming up from December this year. The minister also stated that rupees two thousand fifty crore have been sanctioned for building these 4 medical colleges by the state government. 

Sarma  further stated that the second phase of the teachers recruitment process will start soon. A total of 10,789 new teachers will be recruited under primary and secondary education.He also stated that by the end of September, the third phase of recruitment advertisement for teachers post will be published.

Sarma also said that two new flyover in Guwahati and one in Mission Chariali will come up work of which will start soon. The flyover in Maligaon will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 420.75 crore. This flyover will connect the road that is being constructed on the way to Kamakhya temple. The construction work of the Maligaon flyover will start in the next 10 to15 days. He added that a new road to Bhutan through Chirang will be constructed soon.

Sarma also said that within 15-20 days, nine new degree colleges for women will come up in the state. He also announced that 10 new law colleges will be inaugurated soon.
