At a time when the whole country is celebrating the 151st Birthday Father of the Nation of Mahatma Gandhi today, in Assam the Gandhi Udyaan near the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Tinsukia district of Assam is in a dilapidated condition.

The park is being neglected and ignored through the years.

Under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) was to carry out the project to build the park with an sanctioned amount of Rs 10 lakhs way back in the financial year year 2009-10.Unfortunately, renovation works of the park is yet to be started thus leaving it untouched where People can witness only the cartouche and the wilderness.

Today, the whole Gandhi udyaan is surrounded by bushes and turned into a jungle.
