In view of the ongoing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019, the Gauhati University authorities have postponed exams, which were scheduled to be held on December 10.
In an official notification that has been issued by the Controller of Examination, it has been stated, “All examinations of M.A, M. SC., MBA, LLM, M. Tech, BA, B.Sc, B.Com, B.E, B.Tech, LLB, BA.LLB., Int. M.Com., etc. scheduled on 10/12/19 are postponed to avoid any untoward situation. The rescheduled dates will be notified separately.”

It is to be mentioned here that the state of Assam has been protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Bill and the students of Gauhati University have announced a massive protest against the Bill today, which have been christened as “Akou Saraighat”.
Apart from the students, the teacher, and other employees of the university will also be joining the protest. Meanwhile, Assamese students across the world have extended their solidarity to the students of GU, ahead of the mass protest. Apart from the protest, Assam icon Zubeen Garg, who was recent barred from performing in Dibrugarh town, has also extended his support to the students of the University.
