NEW DELHI: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday demanded that there should be a proper inquiry into the violence that broke out at the Assam-Mizoram border on July 26.
"6 Police personnel were killed. We need to know what happened... We have the right to know what exactly happened", said Gogoi addressing media in New Delhi.
He added that Congress was the first party to visit the family of the victims. "We saw the tears", said Gogoi.
Speaking about the opposition, Gogoi said that all the other cultures are going away from Assam under the rule of Himanta Biswa Sarma due to some of his policies.
"We introduce ourselves as 7 sisters. But Our Chief Minister cares only about RSS or how to please Amit Shah", he said taking a dig at the ruling government.

He added that the government should accept their mismanagement on handling the border disputes.
"During the 15 years rules of Tarung Gogoi in Assam, we never saw anything like this", he added.
For Congress, Northeast always comes first however for the BJP, it is the party that comes first, in fact Modi comes first and then everything else, he said.
Gogoi had earlier written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding immediate action regarding the border issues faced by Assam with neighbouring states.
In the letter, Gogoi said that the recent border violence is not just a failure at the border , but a failure of the constitutional machinery of the state that failed to protect its men.
He added that the incident took place despite the Home Minister’s visit to the North eastern region a few days prior to the incident ‘promising prosperity in the region and stability with regard to the border issues’.
