NEW DELHI: Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Saturday reiterated the inclusion of Assamese polymath Sankardeva's teachings in the NCERT curriculum.
In a letter to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Gogoi urged him to follow up his letters dated February 22, 2019 and December 8, 2015 regarding the inclusion of Sankardeva's teachings as well as focus on religious traditions, political history, culture and economy of North East India in the NCERT curriculum.

"Maharpurush Srimanta Sankardeva was an Assamese polymath who lived in 15th and 16th century. His literary and artistic contributions are living tradition in Assam today", said Gogoi in the letter.
Elaborating Sankardeva's versatility, Gogoi stated, "He is known as a saint, scholar, poet, playwright, and social-religious reformer.
He preached about humanity, brotherhood and inclusive society irrespective of religion", he added.
